PART 1 (Genre: Language)
– Masaya! –
“My name is Masaya, which means Man of Sincerity in Japanese.”
This is my signature phrase that I frequently use when I first introduce myself to friends.
“Seriously?”
But some of them don’t believe that.
Actually, it’s kind of untrue. The sound of “Masaya” doesn’t mean anything.
BUT what I mean is the characters of “Masaya:”
“誠弥 (Masaya)”
My name consists of these two characters.
“誠弥”
↑
The character “誠” is an important word which symbolizes my name.
The word “誠 Makoto (※)” means “Sincerity.”
(※) In Japanese, one character has many different ways to be pronounced; the pronunciation changes depending on the combination of other characters.
In the case of my name:
誠 → ×Makoto ◎Masa
誠 Masa + 弥 Ya = 誠弥 Masaya
The sound of “誠 Makoto” is changed to “誠 Masa” when next to “弥 Ya,” but it still has a meaning of “誠 Sincerity.”
To be exact, my name “Masaya” has an invisible meaning “誠 (Sincerity).”
My name is “Masaya (誠弥)!” Nice to meet you!
